HEALTH & SAFETY

ECS monitors covid and other health indicators carefully. During cold and flu season, the school and individual community members may choose to take preventative measures including wearing masks, spreading out desks, or improving ventilation and air flow. Not everyone who has been exposed to covid or has symptoms chooses to get a covid test. Some students and staff choose to follow quarantine or isolation procedures instead, without testing. Some people with covid never have symptoms, and so do not get tested.

If a viral or other infection reaches 20% of any group, ECS will proactively notify families and post reported cases below.

At Eastside Christian School we are no longer identifying close contacts per the latest guidance of the CDC, however, the following guidelines are recommended:

  • Test your child for covid after exposure or if symptoms arise.
  • Monitor your child for symptoms for 10 days after exposure. If any symptoms develop, please keep your child at home until symptoms get better overall and they no longer have fever (without the help of fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours.
  • Once the “stay home period” is over, consider additional precautions such as having your child wear a mask and avoiding crowded areas for the next five days as they might still be contagious. Make sure to wash hands frequently, too.

If your child tests positive at any time, please report to covid@ecswa.org and follow the DOH Decision Tree for returning to school.

Thank you for all that you do to support ECS and keep our community healthy.
