I love music, art, hiking, beaches, and prayer. I have known ECS as a staff and parent for 10-plus years. My daughter has attended ECS since pre-K, and I have witnessed the influence of Christian education firsthand. My favorite part of being a kindergarten teacher is teaching them all they really need to know in life (Robert Fulghum) and eavesdropping on the funniest things that they say.

As a native Texan, I am so excited to be in the PNW (where there are 4 different seasons!) and at ECS. My husband and I moved to Washington from Texas with our dachshunds almost 2 years ago and we absolutely love it here. We also have 3 children who are spread out all over the country.

I have been teaching for 18 years and can’t imagine doing anything else that brings such joy to my heart. I’ve been fortunate enough to teach 1st-5th grade and now that I’m teaching kinder, I can see why Jesus placed me in this grade!

My Christian journey started early in my life and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at 13 years old. I attended Hardin-Simmons Baptist University in Abilene, Texas and my faith continued to grow stronger during my years there. We now attend Redeemer Eastside Church (currently housed in our gym on Sundays) and know that God led us there and ultimately to ECS for His glory.

My hobbies include hiking, walking my tawny lab Angel, and gardening. I love children and am passionate about teaching. Two of my own children have become teachers, one at the high school level and the other at middle school. I made a decision at a young age to ask Jesus into my life. My relationship with Christ has grown through the years. He is the source of my strength and the reason I live. Sharing my faith journey with the children at our school is what God has called me to do. It is my desire to be able to influence children to love, serve and follow Jesus.

I am so excited to be on staff at ECS. I am originally from Eastern Oregon. Growing up I attended a small non-denominational church with my family. I accepted the Lord as my Savior when I was 12. I have walked with the Lord since then. After attending college at Oregon State University, I moved to the Seattle area with my husband, James, in 1987. We are currently members of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Black Diamond. We have two grown children and a grandson. For over 20 years, I have been involved in Christian education as a parent, teacher and administrator. My children attended Christian school from preschool through 12th grade. I have taught preschool through 6th grade. I served as a preschool director and elementary principal for five years. My favorite part of teaching is watching the students grow and learn new things. Their excitement when they discover a new concept brings joy to my heart. It gives me a small glimpse at how the Lord must feel when we as Christians accomplish His works.

After spending 20 years in the corporate world as a retail and HR professional, I made a career change to follow my passion and become a teacher. I began my career teaching Kindergarten a few years ago at a private school in Bellevue. While I really enjoyed teaching in Bellevue, I really wanted to teach in a Christian school because I believe our most important mission is to raise Christian children. I’m so glad to finally have this opportunity at ECS!  When I’m not spending time in the classroom, I enjoy taking long walks, attending sporting events (especially my children’s basketball and football games), shopping, and spending time with my 2 children, husband, and Lhasa Apso Sport.

I am so excited to be part of the ESC community! I graduated from UW so many years ago and am a Washington native.  While teaching is my latest career, I have also been a retail manager, wedding planner, a nanny, a sub-contractor.  I am happy to say I have finally found the perfect job!  I have taught high school special ed, 4th grade gifted, 5th grade, and now am teaching 2nd grade here at ECS. Almost all my favorite activities are centered around working with kids, being a Mom, camp counselor as often as possible, volunteering with high schoolers at Crossroads Bible Church, leading Cub scouts as a scoutmaster for 10 years, nannying for a family for 7 years, and now teaching. I know that all my different experiences have given me a great perspective for teaching your children.

I have led a Christian life since 5 years of age.  I attended University Presbyterian for most of my life, met my husband there when I was 13 and baptized my 3 boys at UPC.  My 3 Eagle Scouts are 26, 23 and 20 years old. I currently attend Crossroads Bible Church and am loving working in the high school area as a core group leader in my 12th year.

I grew up in Long Beach, California, and studied Intercultural Studies, Education, and Bible at Biola University. After college, I moved from the central coast of California to Washington. I have taught at a variety of places, from a small Christian co-op to a 1000+ student public school, as well as on the decks of tall ships! My favorite thing about teaching is to see students grow and to understand how God is involved in all aspects of life. No amount of knowledge could ever quench my wonder of who He is! Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, reading, feeding people, writing letters, and creating things.

Born and raised in Hawaii, I left my island home to attend the University of Washington. After graduating in 2012 with a Master in Teaching, I taught for two years at South Shore PreK-8. While teaching at South Shore PreK-8 was a huge blessing, there are many reasons why I love teaching at ECS. What I’m most excited about is helping students grow spiritually and academically. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my new daughter and my wife, and also serving on our church’s worship team as a drummer.

I am grateful and excited to become a part of the ECS community. I was born and raised in Washington, not far from ECS. I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior in my early teens and have been following Him ever since. I have felt called to Christian education and Christian service, since graduating high school. God’s presence and direction in my life are clear to me as I look back over the myriad of teaching assignments and unique opportunities I have had. Helping students grow academically, spiritually and in every aspect of their lives is a huge responsibility and privilege. I have had the privilege and joy of teaching students in Christian schools from Spanaway to Bellevue over the past many years. My specific assignments have included grades two through eight, and occasionally when needed I have taught in the primary and high school levels.

I enjoy being outdoors whenever I can get time away. Road trips, walking, hiking, fishing, biking, playing softball, and spending time with my nieces, nephews and the rest of my family are all highlights for me.

I am looking forward to serving alongside the staff and faculty of ECS and being part of this school community.

I attended school in Germany and England for undergraduate and graduate school, and it taught me the value of scholastics, determination, and faith. I discovered that I love to learn and contemplate God’s works through literature and culture. I’m excited to share with my students His grace, love, and faithfulness. After teaching for many years in public high school, I am blessed to join the ECS family as a parent and as a teacher. All of my children attend Eastside Christian. My loving husband and I love to be active with water skiing and snow skiing and attending opera. I come from Central Washington and I love the Pacific Northwest. Go Hawks.

I am excited to join the ECS family! I was born and raised in Yorba Linda, California. I grew up attending church and volunteering for my community. While I accepted Jesus into my heart as a child, I did not truly understand what it meant to walk with Him until High School. I found myself overwhelmed with anxiety about earning good grades. My family encouraged me to attend church and I found the Lord again. Since then, I have been walking with Him. He has truly transformed my life and I lean on Him for everything.

I attended Grand Canyon University and graduated in April, Summa Cum Laude. I received my bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in 4 years. I am working on obtaining my Washington credential. I love teaching and truly feel the Lord has called me to teach at ECS.

This is my first year living in Washington. I look forward to getting to explore the state, join a church and build a community. I love playing board games, attending church activities, hiking, and being with friends.
