Academic Excellence at ECS
Eastside Christian School has a long and consistent record of academic excellence. During the 2024–25 school year, ECS 4th, 6th, and 8th grade students took the Washington State Smarter Balanced Assessments in English Language Arts and Math, with 8th graders also completing the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science.
State assessments are one important measure of student progress and the strength of our instructional program. Across all tested grades, Eastside Christian School students significantly outperformed neighboring public school districts and the Washington state average—often by wide margins. In many cases, ECS students exceeded area district results by 15–40 percentage points and surpassed state averages by 30–50 points. These strong results reflect the quality of instruction at ECS and the supportive learning environment that helps our students meet and exceed high academic standards.
Measuring Student Growth Throughout the Year
At Eastside Christian School, academic excellence is measured through multiple indicators of student achievement and growth. In addition to Washington State assessments, students in grades 1–8 participate in nationally normed STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments at the beginning, middle, and end of each school year.
These assessments provide teachers with valuable, timely data to monitor progress, identify strengths, and offer targeted support where needed. During the 2025–26 school year, ECS students performed above national averages in both reading and mathematics. The results also demonstrated meaningful growth throughout the year, with many grade levels showing solid gains from fall to spring.
These outcomes provide additional evidence of ECS’s commitment to academic excellence and reflect the dedication of our students, teachers, and families in the joyful pursuit of learning.
